Performance Areas

Performance is a major emphasis in the music program at the College of Charleston. Guided by caring faculty, who are themselves active performing artists, students have numerous opportunities to perform in individual recitals and with the Departmental ensembles in the Thursday Noon Student Recital Series, concerts throughout the Charleston community, touring programs, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.

Students have won major prizes in National and Regional Competitions, including the Music Teachers National Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Guitar Foundation of America, and the Schadt String Competitions.

The College of Charleston Concert Choir received the highest honor an American choir can attain: performances at the prestigious 2005 American Choral Directors Association National Convention in Los Angeles, CA.

The College of Charleston Gospel Choir is the National Collegiate Gospel Choir Southeast award winner and has appeared on the Good Morning America program on ABC Television.
