We begin our 20th anniversary of the School of the Arts with our first complete academic year in the new Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts. What an exciting time! We have attracted a cosmopolitan and diverse student body representing the best of a new generation of musicians. We take great pride in our international faculty of outstanding artist/scholars who have brought great renown to the college. Our unique program is designed to meet the fast-changing world of the 21st century, combining conservatory level training with a vigorous liberal arts program that prepares our students for major graduate programs and performing careers.
We are blessed with being in the middle of historic Charleston, South Carolina. Our students are immersed in the history, architecture, and refined lifestyle that have made Charleston a "destination city" and the College such a special place. We are all about the arts. The Spoleto Festival USA and Piccolo Spoleto have also brought us international recognition. If you are looking for a "hand-crafted" muscial education within the setting of one of the world's most beautiful cities, you have found your home.
Sincerely,
Steve Rosenberg, Chair
Department of Music
